Travel is a collective of artists from all over the world, created by trumpeter Marco Vezzoso and pianist Alessandro Collina. All the collective’s pieces were co-written by Vezzoso and Collina, and their shared goal is to recreate the atmosphere of the different cities where the two artists have performed in recent years, offering a new interpretation of instrumental music, free from stylistic barriers. This captivating music, rich in colors from distant worlds, blending world music and jazz flavors, will bring together a wide audience around this concert.
Building on the success of their previous original album, TRAVEL, Vezzoso and Collina decided to continue along this path by first creating a collective of artists from all over the world, and then releasing their second album, NEW WAY.
Travel (their first album), recorded with the participation of Trilok Gurtu and Dominique Di Piazza (also present on this recording), achieved great success with both audiences and critics, particularly in the United States, where it entered the Jazz Week Charts (the ranking of specialized radio stations in the USA) at position 81.
Travel est un collectif d’artistes du monde entier, créé par le trompettiste Marco Vezzoso et le pianiste Alessandro Collina. Tous les titres du collectif ont été co-écrits par Vezzoso et Collina, et leur objectif commun est de recréer l’atmosphère des différentes villes où les deux artistes se sont produits ces dernières années, offrant une nouvelle interprétation de la musique instrumentale, affranchie des barrières stylistiques. Cette musique captivante, riche en couleurs d’univers lointains, mélange de musiques du monde et de saveurs jazz, fédérera un large public autour de ce concert.
Vezzoso et Collina, forts du succès de leur précédent album original, TRAVEL, ont décidé de poursuivre sur cette lancée en créant d’abord un collectif d’artistes du monde entier, puis en publiant leur deuxième album, NEW WAY.
Travel (leur premier album), enregistré avec la participation de Trilok Gurtu et Dominique Di Piazza (également présents sur cet enregistrement) et a reçu un grand succès auprès du public et des critiques, notamment aux États-Unis où il est entré dans le Jazz Week Charts (le classement des stations de radio spécialisées aux USA) à la position 81.
Travel è un collettivo di artisti provenienti da tutto il mondo, creato dal trombettista Marco Vezzoso e dal pianista Alessandro Collina. Tutti i brani del collettivo sono stati co-scritti da Vezzoso e Collina e il loro obiettivo comune è ricreare l’atmosfera delle diverse città in cui i due artisti si sono esibiti negli ultimi anni, offrendo una nuova interpretazione della musica strumentale, libera da barriere stilistiche. Questa musica coinvolgente, ricca dei colori di universi lontani, che mescola musiche del mondo e sonorità jazz, saprà unire un vasto pubblico attorno a questo concerto.

Travel ist ein internationales Künstlerkollektiv, gegründet vom Trompeter Marco Vezzoso und dem Pianisten Alessandro Collina. Alle Stücke des Kollektivs wurden von Vezzoso und Collina gemeinsam komponiert. Ihr gemeinsames Ziel ist es, die Atmosphäre der verschiedenen Städte, in denen die beiden Künstler in den letzten Jahren aufgetreten sind, wiederzugeben und eine neue, stilistisch unkonventionelle Interpretation von Instrumentalmusik zu präsentieren. Diese mitreißende Musik, reich an Klangfarben ferner Welten und eine Mischung aus Weltmusik und Jazz, wird ein breites Publikum bei diesem Konzert begeistern.
Nach dem Erfolg ihres ersten Albums „TRAVEL“ beschlossen Vezzoso und Collina, diesen Weg weiterzugehen. Zunächst gründeten sie ein internationales Künstlerkollektiv und veröffentlichten anschließend ihr zweites Album „NEW WAY“.
Travel (ihr erstes Album), aufgenommen unter Mitwirkung von Trilok Gurtu und Dominique Di Piazza (der auch auf dieser Aufnahme zu hören ist), erzielte großen Erfolg beim Publikum und bei den Kritikern, insbesondere in den Vereinigten Staaten, wo es auf Platz 81 der Jazz Week Charts (der Charts spezialisierter Radiosender in den USA) einstieg.

Nihar Mehta comes from one of the most important families of philosophers and musicians in Ahmedabad (Gujarat). His family has always been very active in the teaching and promotion of classical music in India, notably with the creation of the “SAPTAK SCHOOL OF MUSIC” and that of the largest music festival in India, the “SAPTAK FESTIVAL,” which has taken place from January 1st to 13th for 37 years.
Nihar learned tabla at this school with his uncle Pt Nandan Mehta and Pt Puran Maharaj, both disciples of the famous Pt Kishan Maharaj. Since then, he has performed prestigious concerts in Europe in the programs of Museums: Musée Guimet in Paris, Musée des Arts Asiatiques in Nice, Museum Rietberg in Zurich, Museum of Contemporary Arts in Lisbon, Lecce, Lucca (Italy). Nihar regularly accompanies artists such as Ustad Shujaat Khan, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Amarnath Mishra, Krishna Mohan Bhatt, Partho Sarothy, Nicolas Delaigue, Sugata Roychowdhury, Ustad Sabir Khan and many others.

Joyeeta Sanyal was born in India, in the city of Calcutta. She was introduced to the sitar at a very young age and, after years of practice and dedication, she has developed a technique that makes her playing as creative as it is captivating. Once the sitar is in her hands, as if in a trance, she captivates the audience with the depth of her interpretation. A graduate of the national school of the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) in New Delhi, she has already given several performances, both on stage and on television. An academic at ITC SRA (Indian Classical Music Academy) from December 2005 to April 2012, she began her training with Guru Manilal Nag.

Blending rock, jazz, fusion and funk, Nazim Kri is an Algerian guitarist of great versatility and enormous melodic potential. During his emerging career, he has already played with the Algerian pop group Freeklane and has shared the stage with many world music talents, from Idir to Soolking. The perfect marriage of all kinds of influences!

Nihar Mehta vient d’une des plus importantes familles de philosophes et de musiciens
d’Ahmedabad (Gujerat). Sa famille a toujours été très active dans l’enseignement et la promotion de la musique classique en Inde notamment avec la création de l’école « SAPTAK SCHOOL OF MUSIC » et celle du plus grand festival de musique de l’Inde, le « SAPTAK FESTIVAL » qui a lieu du 1er au 13 janvier depuis 37 ans.
Nihar apprend le tabla au sein de cette école avec son oncle Pt Nandan Mehta et Pt Puran Maharaj, tous deux disciples du célèbre Pt Kishan Maharaj. Depuis lors il a joué des concerts prestigieux en Europe dans les programmations des Musées: Musée Guimet de Paris, Musée des Arts Asiatiques de Nice, Musée Rietberg à Zurich, Musée des Arts Contemporains à Lisonne, Lecce, Luca (Italie). Diplômée de l’école nationale du centre de formation et de ressources culturelle (CCRT) de New Delhi, Elle a déjà donné plusieurs représentations , aussi bien sur scène qu’à télévision . Académicienne à l’ITC SRA ( Académie de Musique Classique Indienne) de décembre 2005 à avril 2012, elle débuta sa formation avec Guru Manilal Nag.
